Helen Neilson
I began working as a Social Worker in Northumberland in 1995. As a Social Worker I worked with individuals and their families to manage and adapt to difficult life transitions, as a result of illness or disability.
I then spent several years working in the charity-sector and worked to improve the lives of older people, by reducing isolation by increasing meaningful activity and connection with others.
In 2012, I returned to University where I gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Therapies (IAPT). After working for several years in a local Talking Therapies service, I then returned to Newcastle University and I completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in 2018.
Since then, I have delivered one to one, CBT sessions as well as delivering group therapy for people struggling with depression and anxiety disorders.
I believe it is important to establish a trusting, therapeutic relationship, to enable clients to make changes, to reduce distress and improve the quality of their lives.
I receive regular clinical supervision and I ensure I am up to date with new developments in the field of CBT.
I am accredited with British Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Psychotherapists.
