Client Spotlight: Benjamin Beeson’s Transformational Journey with Blue Talking Therapies

A Life-Changing Experience

Benjamin reached out to us when he was struggling with mental health issues. He had been signed off work, was unable to manage his OCD rituals, had no social life, and was not taking care of his physical health.

However, Benjamin’s life took a turn for the better after he started therapy sessions with one of our highly experienced therapists, Nikki. The Power of Therapy

Nikki equipped Benjamin with strategies and methods that played a massive part in his recovery. She helped him gain a better understanding of himself and how his mind works. Benjamin learned how factors like diet, sleep, and exercise can significantly impact his mental health.

Today, Benjamin is back at work, managing his OCD rituals better, meeting friends regularly, attending events, and taking care of his physical health. He has lost 20lbs and exercises regularly, taking 10k steps a day and going to the gym three times a week.

CBT Therapy for OCD

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) remains the treatment of choice for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) here in the UK and is used successfully as a treatment for many other common mental health problems such as panic and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  Unlike other talking therapies like counseling, it is much more structured and tailored around the individuals ‘here and now’ problems. Research has shown that 75% of people with OCD are significantly helped by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, with some local IAPT services reporting recovery rates of up to 80%.  What’s more, this form of therapy does not have any risks or side effects associated with it, which is why it remains the treatment of choice for tackling OCD by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
