I trained as an Occupational Therapist after gaining an interest in the recovery of individuals following life changing events.
My positions as an Occupational Therapist (O.T) within the NHS, led me to experience a variety of settings where I facilitated re-enablement of individuals, encouraging them to regain occupation using activity as the treatment tool, to assist them to maintain or adapt to changes in their functioning following illness.
My special interest in promotion of positive mental health led me to work within various positions as a Senior OT, working with both common psychological problem areas as well as enduring mental ill health, with clients from an adolescent to elderly age range. I have recently focused my attention towards research, development and training around early intervention strategies.
I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as the main treatment of choice when assisting recovery of mental ill health.
I offer clinical supervision and consultancy.
I am accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists which oversees the supervised practice and delivery of CBT.
I am also a member of the professional body, Health and Care Professions Council, who are oversee my ability to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
With 17 years of professional experience as a therapist, my passion for promoting recovery remains active as I thrive on guiding clients to help themselves minimise distress and work towards recovery.
